GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of LCCA policies and procedures and SOG's
- Applicable knowledge of the Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, and Radio systems.
- Able to troubleshoot the component level of radio equipment.
- Repair of mobile, portable, and fixed AM and FM two-way radio equipment.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Working knowledge of industry terminology and quality assurance tools.
- Travel to required training and conferences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Under the direction of the LCCA Director and Radio Specialist, ensures the efficient and effective operation of CAD RMS and Radio administrative equipment.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of all P25 trunking sites.
- Assist in the maintenance of the microwave links between all sites.
- Assist in programing all Lea County radios.
- Assist in the maintenance of Lea County VHF and UHF radio frequencies.
- Assist in the maintenance of the Lea County VHF radio systems.
- Helps in the coordination of municipalities and Lea County to maintain whelen tornado sirens.
- Installs and maintains cameras on all sites.
- Maintain an emergency phone system from the FAA control tower to the ARFF fire station at County airports.
- Helps in the oversight of all radio upgrades and updates.
- Supports LCCA's radio consoles including backup radios at each console.
- Maintains the base station at backup sites, REDA and Fire Station One.
- Maintains radio console software.
- Performs system quality testing on P25 sites.
- May provide reports to the LCCA Director and Radio Specialist when requested.
- May attend approved training related to Radio Management.
- May work occasional irregular hours to repair any radio or tower site issues and to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
- The duties of the LCCA Radio Technician are not limited to those set forth above. The employee will perform such functions, duties or assignments as given by a supervisor consistent with ability, background and expertise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree from accredited college preferred.
Experience:
- Three years' experience required.
Certification, Skills and Licenses:
- Ability to communicate in both oral and written English.
- Valid New Mexico driver's license.
