We are a dedicated dog resort that offer daycare, boarding & training committed to helping dogs and their owners build strong, trusting relationships. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Dog Obedience Trainer using the Balanced Training Method. In this role, you will work closely with dogs and their owners to teach essential obedience skills, promote positive behavior, and strengthen the bond between pets and their families. The ideal candidate will have experience in dog training and a genuine love for animals, ensuring a safe and effective training environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct group training sessions for dogs of various breeds and temperaments.
- Utilize the Balanced Training Method to teach obedience commands, address behavioral issues, and enhance overall dog behavior.
- Assess each dog’s progress and adapt training techniques to meet individual needs.
- Provide guidance to pet owners on effective training practices and ongoing reinforcement at home.
- Maintain a clean and safe training environment for both dogs and handlers.
- Collaborate with team members to develop training programs that cater to different skill levels.
- Keep accurate records of each dog's training progress and communicate updates with pet owners.
Skills
- Certification from a recognized dog training program (e.g., CCPDT, IACP, or similar).
- Prior experience with e-collar and prong collar training.
- Background in working with rescue dogs or dogs with behavioral challenges.
- Strong knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Familiarity with pet care practices, including animal restraint
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and provide clear instructions.
- Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for animal welfare are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one and/or group training sessions using balanced training techniques.
- Assess canine behavior and develop tailored training plans to address specific goals or challenges.
- Educate clients on training methods, tools, and techniques to ensure consistency at home.
- Safely and effectively utilize or learn to use e-collars and prong collars when appropriate, adhering to ethical and humane standards.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor while working with dogs and their owners.
- Keep accurate records of training progress and client communications.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in training methodologies.
Compensation:
