Job Title: Controller
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting, finance, and financial planning functions within a complex healthcare system. The Controller will be responsible for all financial reporting—both internal and external—and will manage budgeting, treasury, cost reporting, tax returns, and independent audits across multiple entities including corporate, hospitals, physician groups, and joint ventures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct, coordinate, and evaluate financial activities and staff within assigned areas.
- Supervise preparation of monthly financial statements and annual operating, capital, and FTE budgets.
- Oversee completion of all external financial reports and tax returns.
- Analyze financial data to benchmark departmental performance and recommend improvements to enhance quality of care and services.
- Ensure monthly reconciliations are completed and internal controls are maintained to safeguard assets.
- Manage preparation of rating materials for credit agencies such as Moody’s and Fitch.
- Stay informed on reimbursement and accounting developments affecting financial reporting and communicate updates to the team.
- Supervise the annual third-party independent audit process.
- Oversee Treasury Management, including reporting and supervision of investment committee activities.
- Implement changes necessary to comply with legislative actions.
- Participate in capital financing activities and business planning initiatives.
- Prepare financial information for Certificates of Need.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information and communicate appropriately.
- Supervise Accounts Payable, General Accounting, and Payroll functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; CPA designation highly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in a managerial role in finance/accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows operating systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
