Job Summary:
A Life Skills Coach empowers individuals to develop essential skills for navigating daily life, enhancing personal well-being, and achieving self-sufficiency. They work with clients to improve communication, problem-solving, financial management, time management, self-care, career readiness, and other critical life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess clients' strengths, challenges, and personal development needs.
- Develop personalized coaching plans to enhance life skills.
- Teach practical skills such as budgeting, time management, goal setting, decision-making, and interpersonal communication.
- Provide guidance on career development, resume building, and job search strategies.
- Offer emotional support and motivation to clients as they work toward self-improvement.
- Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions and group workshops.
- Connect clients with community resources, job training programs, and support services.
- Monitor progress and adjust coaching strategies as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions and progress.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers, counselors, and educators, to support client growth.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, or a related field (preferred but not always required).
- Experience:Previous experience in coaching, mentoring, teaching, or social services is an advantage.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and empower individuals.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of personal development strategies and self-sufficiency skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to coaching.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other documentation tools.
Preferred Certifications:
- Life Coaching Certification (ICF, NLP, or similar)
- Mental Health First Aid Certification
- Career Coaching Certification
Work Environment:
- May work in community centers, schools, rehabilitation programs, nonprofits, or private practice.
- Some positions may require travel to clients' homes or workplaces.
- Flexible schedules, including evenings or weekends, may be needed based on client availability.
