Job Description

Job Title: Public Health Education Program Manager

Location: Remote position from August 15th to June 15th annually, with up to 30 days of travel for board meetings, conferences, and project oversight.

Work days are Sunday - Thursday to coincide with the International Internship Program Schedule

Required full-time on-site work at Georgetown University during summer internship programs from June 22nd - August 8th.

Position Type: Full-time

Compensation:

Salary: $65,000 per year

Bonus: $10,000 upon completing each summer contract, paid on August 9th, 2025.

Benefits: 21 days of paid leave per year, 401(k) matched at 8%, health insurance

Job Summary

We’re looking for a dynamic Public Health Education Program Manager to lead our public health-focused curriculum development, serving both interns and our partner communities in northern Nigeria. This individual will play a key role in creating and refining year-round educational content that inspires and informs students. They will also serve as the Director of our Advanced Medical & Public Health Internship, a week-long intensive program held at Georgetown University, and manage our International Internship Program, which provides ongoing mentorship and support to interns engaged in global projects throughout the year.

This position is ideal for a candidate with a background in nursing, medical training, or public health education—someone eager to make a lasting impact by empowering the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Program Design

  • Develop, update, and implement public health education curriculum for year-round programs focused on health education, prevention, and awareness in underserved communities.
  • Design and deliver interactive and engaging public health workshops, materials, and resources for interns, including hands-on learning modules and project-based experiences.
  • Collaborate with Leadership Initiatives’ team members, educational experts, and field professionals to ensure curriculum relevance and effectiveness.
  • Gather insights and feedback from program participants and community partners to refine and improve curriculum delivery and outcomes.

Advanced Medical & Public Health Internship

  • Serve as the Director of the Advanced Medical & Public Health Internship held at Georgetown University each summer, overseeing program planning, daily operations, and student engagement.
  • Coordinate with medical professionals and guest speakers to provide impactful workshops, panel discussions, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Mentor and guide high school students in understanding public health concepts, exploring career paths, and setting college and career goals.
  • Manage program logistics, including scheduling, participant accommodations, and health/safety procedures.

International Internship Program Management

  • Oversee the International Internship Program (IIP), providing ongoing support and mentorship to interns as they work on global public health and community development projects.
  • Coordinate with international project partners and communities, primarily in northern Nigeria, to align intern projects with community needs and public health priorities.
  • Guide interns through project milestones, offering insights on best practices in health education, community engagement, and sustainable impact.
  • Facilitate regular communication with interns and local partners, providing feedback, resources, and troubleshooting support.

Community and Partnership Engagement

  • Work with community leaders and healthcare professionals in northern Nigeria to develop community-centered health education initiatives aligned with local needs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local and international health organizations, universities, and other partners to support program goals and expand learning opportunities.
  • Support interns working on community health projects, providing guidance on best practices in health education and community engagement.

Team Collaboration and Support

  • Collaborate closely with other team members to align education initiatives with Leadership Initiatives’ mission and objectives.
  • Provide training, resources, and support to other staff and facilitators working within public health-related programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities to stay informed on public health trends and educational practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Global Health, Community Health, or a related field required
  • Experience: Preferred minimum of 2 years experience in public health, education, curriculum development, medicine, nursing or a similar role.
  • Proven experience working with high school or university students in an educational or mentoring capacity or public health project management experience.
  • Experience managing or directing educational programs, preferably within an internship or similar hands-on environment.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of public health principles, especially in community health and education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience designing educational materials.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy required in curriculum design, program planning, and communication with interns and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in diverse cultural settings, with a sensitivity to the unique needs of underserved communities.
