Area Director for Leading Edge's Before & After School Programs in the Washington DC Area

Leading Edge provides high-quality before and after-school programs focused on academic support and enrichment. We create environments where students complete homework first and then engage in activities to strengthen math and reading skills. Our programs build academic confidence while supporting social/emotional development in a diverse, inclusive atmosphere that children love.
Following our successful pilot program at John Burroughs in Spring 2024, the district has awarded Leading Edge two additional schools in Washington, DC. We seek a capable leader to open and manage these expanding programs.
The Area Director's responsibilities include:
Leadership
- Management of Site Directors, teachers, and all other assigned Leading Edge staff
- Interview, select, and onboard new team members; providing their comprehensive training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management
- Clearly communicate job expectations while implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures
- Create a stimulating, supportive environment that encourages team excellence and professional growth
Communication
- Serve as the vital liaison between field/family support teams and site locations through regular visits and meaningful interactions with management and school personnel
- Collaborate effectively with all organizational levels to maximize operational performance and program quality
- Maintain regular, proactive communication with school and district administration to strengthen partnerships
Operations
- Drive operational excellence by implementing and maintaining superior quality and customer-service standards
- Meticulously manage and audit licensing documentation at each location to ensure full compliance
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility through effective management of labor costs, supply budgets, and resource allocation
- Ensure each location meets or exceeds all company and licensing standards
- Coordinate strategic family outreach initiatives with community partners
- Successfully launch new program sites with attention to detail and operational excellence
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services field with 3 years of experience working with children
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in childcare or educational settings
- Comprehensive knowledge of DC childcare licensing regulations and requirements
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Advanced proficiency with Google Suite applications
- Exceptional time management with consistent ability to meet deadlines
- Outstanding organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with an unwavering commitment to customer service
- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision
- Experience opening and managing multiple program sites preferred
- Position Reports to National Operations Director
Compensation & Benefits:
- Annual salary range: $55,000 - $65,000
- Bi-monthly pay schedule (8th and 23rd of each month)
