Leading Edge Composites (LEC) is a full service, fully integrated design, engineering, and manufacturing facility in Aviation, Aerospace, and Defense. LEC’s 14 CFR part 145 repair station performs maintenance, repair and alterations of composite and metal components. LEC has been involved with numerous STCs upgrades and Parts Manufacturing approvals and specializes in the design of utility, search & rescue and VIP interiors for rotor and fixed-wing aircraft.

Salary for Full Time: From $80,000

LEC is looking for a qualified seasoned 14 CFR part 145 Full Time or Part Time Chief Inspector/Quality Manager to help to help ensure the growth of the Quality Organization to ensure the highest of standards for aircraft maintenance.

How you will spend your time as our Chief Inspector/Quality Manager:

· Assist, supervise and direct all personnel assigned to repair station’s Quality Department, including Quality Inspectors and Quality Receiving Inspectors.

· Responsible for ensuring that the repair station operates in accordance with its Repair Station Certificate, Operating Specifications, Limitations, Capabilities and policy and procedures of the repair station.

· Ensure that all records, forms, and documentation utilized by the repair station are properly executed, controlled, and retained in accordance with the current Code of Federal Aviation Regulations and company policy.

· Continually asses the capabilities of the repair station, to include evaluating new work requirements to ensure that the repair station only maintains articles, components and aircraft authorized under the repair station’s ratings.

· Maintains the repair station’s approved Contract Maintenance Function List and Contract Maintenance Provider List and records.

· Conducts oversight of non-certificated contract maintenance facilities to ensure facilities are performing contracted work in accordance with LEC repair station’s quality system.

· Manages and maintains all training record documentation that supports the repair station’s Approved Training Program.

· Conducts initial, recurrent, and specialized training to all employees of the repair station as well as periodically conducting training needs assessments as the capabilities of the repair station change.

· Ensures Quality Inspectors maintain proficiency in all inspection techniques utilized by the repair station.

· Issues authorizations to qualified and trained employees of the repair station and maintains an up-to-date roster of management, supervisory and inspection personnel and their authorizations, including the assignment and control of inspection stamps.

· Maintains strong knowledge and understanding of technical data requirements utilized to facilitate maintenance, repair and alteration of aviation articles, components and aircraft.

· Ensures the proper execution of FAA Form 337, for Major Repair and Alterations as well as issuing maintenance release and return to service records/documents for all articles, components and aircraft maintained by the repair station.

· Ensure that Service Difficulty Reports are properly executed and submitted to the FAA.

· Provides Quality Inspectors to support Work Away Operations of the repair station.

· Provides company liaison with FAA on all regulatory matters affecting airworthiness and operations of the repair station.

· Determines the equivalency of tools and equipment used by the repair station (other than that recommended by the manufacturer) and document, as required.

· Oversees the Measuring and Test Equipment calibration program of the repair station.

· Responsible for the repair station’s Fabrication Quality Control System to produce parts consumed in the repair or alteration of maintenance activities of the repair station.

· Maintains or makes available technical data, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, and other data required for the repair station.

· Provides detailed processes and inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the repair station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturers’ specifications.

· Responsible for all materials subject to shelf life and ensuring that these are properly controlled, inspected on a regular basis, and removed from service when the shelf life expires.

· Conducts root cause analysis and determination of corrective action required for deficiencies and quality escapes.

Qualifications and Skills:

· Ability to effectively interact and tactfully communicate with company management, quality personnel, repair station employees and customers.

· Must maintain high standards of performance for self and others; demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the business; monitor, coach and mentor the Quality Department team.

· Must be self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision, setting goals and achieving high levels of organizational success.

· Able to represent the company’s interests when interacting with various Regulatory Agencies both in person and in writing.

· Must be able to read, write and understand regulations and regulatory guidance, technical data, maintenance instructions, Airworthiness Directives, Service bulletins, Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS), and procedure manuals.

· Must be comfortable drafting and revising technical procedures and manuals and helping to ensure their proper implementation.

· Must be able to map and document processes and work flow in a clear logical manner.

· Must be able to effectively operate the company’s computer-based applications/software including: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft PowerPoint.

· Able to make risk-based decisions, and solve complex problems in a high-pressure environment that does not compromise safety and airworthiness.

· Must be able to interpret and apply highly technical data, regulations and regulatory guidance to produce compliant, airworthy articles , components and aircraft,

· Must possess FAA Issued Mechanic’s Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings or have already (currently or in the past) possessed a Repairman’s Certificate doing similar work.

Experience Required:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in a FAA Part 145 Repair Station
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a management leadership role.

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
