What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Leading-Edge Law Group, PLC?
This person would primarily support our trademark practice but also work on copyrights, trade secrets, and agreements related to intellectual property and technology. We do not seek support for patent work.
This person will also assist John Farmer with researching and writing his monthly newspaper column on intellectual property and technology law issues and will assist John with preparing seminar materials for his teaching in the field of intellectual property.
We will provide the person with extensive training in effective legal writing and best practices for a successful law career, should the person be interested in attending law school.
· Recent college graduates and those graduating in the spring of 2025 will be considered.
· We will also consider people with work experience who are paralegals or who have worked in other jobs but have the skill set to be paralegals.
· We would consider people with law degrees who prefer a paralegal role.
· The ideal candidate would have prior experience as a paralegal working in the area of trademark law.
· Strong experience and facility with social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Yelp).
· Strong abilities with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and Outlook. We use PCs, not Apple.
· Ability to work and stay on task independently.
· Excellent proofreading, composition, and grammar skills.
· Meticulous attention to detail.
· A strong desire and drive to maximize personal potential.
· Strong work ethic.
· Gets along well with others.
The person would be an at-will employee, meaning, under the law, the person would have the legal freedom to quit at any time, and the firm could dismiss that person at any time. With that caveat, we wish to hire someone who intends to work for us for at least three or more years. We strongly prefer not to hire someone who would work for fewer than two years.
$50,000 to $70,000 per year plus individual health insurance and the opportunity to participate in our 401(k) (3% employer match).
We wish to fill this position as soon as possible. For individuals who will graduate from college in the spring of 2025, we may be able to wait for that person to graduate if the person is a strong candidate.
This job will be working on-site in our Richmond office. Due to client confidentiality needs and to build relationships with our attorneys and staff, the job is not remote or hybrid in-person/remote.
