Job Summary
A CFRS is an adult individual who has been directly impacted by their own family member or loved one’s substance use disorder. The primary function of a CFRS is to assist individuals gain access to needed resources in the community by assisting them in overcoming barriers and helping them bridge gaps between their needs and available resources. Types of services offered would include outreach, engagement, and connecting individuals to community-based services such as recovery-oriented support groups, treatment, behavioral health, recovery housing, grief counseling, healthcare services and pro-social activities. This community-based approach promotes integration through the connection. While this is not a licensed service, the minimum experience for CFRS includes a high school diploma or equivalent as well as a certification from the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
Responsibilities
- Teach and model the value of unique recovery experiences for individuals.
- Provide peer support interventions within area of expertise.
- Promote self-advocacy within individuals.
- Provide recovery education and resources to loved ones/family members, individuals with substance use/co-occurring disorder, and professionals.
- Act as a community liaison to develop relationships with service agencies and other organizations.
- Provide outreach and engagement between individuals and support organizations.
- Communicate effectively in a culturally competent manner with a diverse patient population.
- Promote and enhance access to the local continuity of care systems (treatment, somatic care, specialty care, recovery support, etc.)
- Facilitate pro-social, recovery-oriented activities
- Periodically provide transportation to individuals in need of resource connection and/or individuals participating in the organization’s events and activities.
- Perform other job duties as required.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Be a self-identified person in recovery
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED, with an Associate’s Degree preferred
- Possess a CFRS certification (out of state reciprocity will be considered)
o Or possess a CRS certification, with CFRS eligibility, and obtaining CRFS certification within six months of hire
- Be willing to engage in continuing education training and professional development opportunities on an annual basis.
- Possess effective written/verbal communication, boundary setting, and computer skills.
Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license
Physical Requirement
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Periodic lifting (under 50 pounds)
- Some travel required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
