About The Role

Case Aide performs various supportive activities for casework services in support of the needs of the Family Foster Care Program. Duties may include "support activities" such as collecting information or investigating situations to obtain information about family situations; directly assisting children and family members in various ways, e.g., providing transportation, arranging home visits, accompanying children to service providers, participating in and reporting observations and findings at case conferences. Work is performed under the supervision of a Case Work Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with locating information regarding parents/families and resources in the community and communicates information to case planners.
  • Follows through on case aide related assignments, i.e., make home visits when approved by the Case Work Supervisor, help supervise child-family contact visits. Accompany children to service providers.
  • Assist with office clerical duties, including photocopying, filing documents in case records, processing letters and other mailings, serving as a receptionist - answering telephones and taking messages.
  • Assists in maintaining an orderly, safe, and informative on-site environment for children and parents.
  • Promptly reports hazards and all observations suggesting suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children to the appropriate individual.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Performs related and similar duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree is strongly preferred plus a minimum of two years of prior experience as an Office Assistant.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent also considered with prior experience in child welfare environment.
  • Valid Driver's License is needed.
  • Ability to carry out assignments with attention to accurateness, thoroughness, and timeliness and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to rotate positively to people from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. Must be LGBTQ affirming.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Physical requirements included the ability to lift and reach for light objects; close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, text, and figures; ability to type utilizing a computer keyboard; ability to travel to outside locations; and the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time as a primary job function. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $43,680.00. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday in our 151 Lawrence St. Brooklyn office. Work hours options are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, 10 am - 6 pm.

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
  • Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)
