Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other related needs. Duties
- Provide compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism.
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s specific needs and preferences.
- Facilitate social interactions and community engagement to promote inclusion and participation.
- Monitor client behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Document client progress and activities accurately in accordance with organizational policies.
Skills
- Experience in social work or assisted living environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have autism or developmental disabilities is highly valued.
- Strong skills in meal preparation and understanding of dietary needs for long-term care settings.
- Ability to provide patient care with empathy and respect for individual dignity.
- Knowledge of nursing home protocols or experience in similar healthcare settings is advantageous.
