LEAP for Education is recruiting for a new Career and Education Resource Manager. Reporting to the Senior Director of High School and Post-Secondary Programs, the new Career and Education Resource Manager is a mid-level leadership-level position responsible for overseeing career & post-secondary mentoring components, financial aid and scholarship support, and work-based learning initiatives. This role ensures that students transition seamlessly from career exploration in the Teen Center into structured mentoring, internships, and post-secondary planning.

This position supervises two direct reports: the Career & Education Mentoring Coordinator, who manages the one-to-one career and post-secondary mentoring components, and the Work-Based Learning Coordinator, who develops work-based learning partnerships and experiences that help students apply career exploration in real-world settings, including through LEAP’s Summer Work Program, and liaises with local school districts to align opportunities with student needs, ensure program accessibility, and strengthen school-to-career pipelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Leadership and Supervision

  • Lead a cross-functional team building and supporting career & post-secondary mentoring, employer & community/school partnerships, and work-based learning opportunities as direct resources that support youth in successfully navigating the high-school to post-secondary transition and beyond
  • Supervise, train & coach the Career & Education Mentoring Coordinator and Work-Based Learning Coordinator, ensuring alignment with LEAP’s student-centered, opportunity-driven model.
  • In partnership with Senior Director of HS & PS programs work to develop staff trainings and ongoing learning and development for team
  • Develop and deliver presentations for internal staff, external partners, school districts, and employer stakeholders to communicate program goals, student outcomes, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support professional development for team members by modeling effective communication and meeting facilitation, coaching on presentation skills, and ensuring all staff can articulate LEAP’s mission and impact.

Mentoring Program Management & Student Impact

  • Partner and collaborate with the Teen Center Manager aligning Teen Center career exploration and readiness activities with post-secondary planning, mentorship, and work-based learning opportunities. The goal is for students to experience a seamless pipeline from early career exploration to structured internships, employer partnerships, and postsecondary success.
  • Set deliverables and support designated staff in the development and implementation of financial aid, scholarship, and post-secondary planning initiatives to ensure students graduate with a clear pathway that minimizes debt.
  • Lead in developing and/securing training for staff and volunteers to ensure mentoring services are student-centered, culturally responsive, and strength-based.
  • Support grant proposals and ongoing reporting with strong data collection, program evaluation, and impact measurement to ensure continuous improvement.

Work-Based Learning & Employer Partnerships

  • Develop and sustain partnerships with businesses, industries, and higher education institutions to expand mentorships, internships, and real-world learning opportunities.
  • Support the Work-Based Learning Coordinator ensuring high-quality summer work experiences for summer youth participants through the Summer Work Program and place-based internships.
  • Build and/or review employer engagement strategies, career readiness programs, and workforce development initiatives assessing for quality and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Teen Center Manager to ensure that Teen Center career programming prepares students for internships and workplace experiences.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three to five or more years of education, curriculum development, workforce development and nonprofit management
  • Three years or more of experience in career development, college access, workforce training, or a related field
  • Two years or more of supervisory experience, with a strong ability to coach and develop staff
  • Experience building career mentorship programs, post-secondary advising systems, or work-based learning initiatives
  • Entrepreneurial approach and strong ability to cultivate partnerships with schools, businesses, and higher education institutions
  • Deep commitment to equity-driven career and post-secondary programming
  • Experience with grant writing, budget management, and program evaluation
  • Experience working with historically underserved and first-generation college students
  • Proficiency in data tracking systems (Salesforce preferred)

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • This is a full-time leadership position based in Salem & Lynn, MA.
  • Some travel to employer and college partner sites required.
  • May include occasional evening or weekend events, which are pre-scheduled in advance.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

Work Environment and Hazards

  • Normal office working environment with occasional remote work if/as desired and arranged; generally free from noise and hazards with occasional exposure to heat and cold.
  • This position has limited exposure to hazards that require the exercise of caution with little likelihood of injury.

Physical Demands/Efforts

  • A desk-based position with occasional need to lift objects up to 25 lbs. (e.g. for events)

Travel

  • Minimal, occasional local travel involved for events, meetings, and donor visits; less than 25% travel is required.
