POSITION TITLE: Co-Controller
POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Co-Controller to join the accounting team for a large electrical contractor based in Florida. The Co-Controller will play a key role in managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the overall financial health of the organization. This position will work closely with the CFO and other senior management to support strategic financial planning and decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors.
Manage budget preparation and review budget vs. actual performance.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures.
Provide support to project managers and operations team on financial matters related to construction projects.
Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
Participate in the development of the company's strategic plans.
Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
Other duties as assigned by the CFO.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience in the construction industry.
Cost accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience with construction accounting software is highly desirable.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: A reasonable estimate of the available {annual or hourly} pay scale for this position is: $125,000-135,000. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.
