As the outward face of Learning Tree Farm, our Farm Educators interact with and educate children, teachers, families, sponsors, and the community at large. AND, one of the best parts is that there are baby animals! This position is part time, seasonal, and the schedule is flexible.
Job Title: Farm Educator
Reports to: Director of Farm Operations

Job Description:
Farm Educators are the outward face of Learning Tree Farm. They interact with and educate children, teachers, families, sponsors, and the community at large. Farm Educators are responsible for implementing and leading all of our on-farm education programs. Farm Educators ensure that our educational programming is a premier community resource for hands-on learning experiences in a timeless farm setting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead farm field trips
- Promote and uphold Learning Tree Farm’s mission and beliefs
- Be prompt and fulfill mutually agreed upon work hours (field trips, assigned community programs, fundraisers, special events)
- Communicate and collaborate with the entire farm education staff to plan, implement, modify and update all farm field trip content (lesson plans, projects, activities, etc.)
- Check work email and google chat on a regular basis and respond promptly
- Communicate clearly and consistently with all other staff members, both through personal interactions and electronically
- Attend and participate in seasonal staff meetings and all related training
- Assist in maintaining the Teaching Garden
- Periodically work scheduled outreach events off site
- Communicate with the Director of Farm Operations about animal, equipment, and grounds issues
- Communicate with the Farm Operations Director about field trip groups, programming concerns, professional development needs, and work schedule
- Educators are required to track hours electronically
- Farm Educators have the opportunity to also work on community programs
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience
- Working knowledge of nature and the outdoors
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Desire and ability to work with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds, as well as with livestock, in a farm setting
- Able to walk at least one mile and lift 30 pounds
- Flexible and able to respond to changes in the work schedule and work environment
- Self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently
- Outgoing, energetic, and welcoming to all farm visitors
