Job Summary
The Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for engaging with the community to promote the mission of Leashes of Valor and increase awareness of the organization’s services for veterans. This role requires a passionate advocate who can effectively communicate the impact of service dogs in improving the quality of life for veterans with PTSD and other service-related conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and conduct public speaking engagements at local events, schools, community centers, and veteran organizations. Share information about Leashes of Valor and the impact of service dogs.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, local businesses, and veteran groups to enhance collaborative opportunities.
- Distribute promotional materials, such as brochures and newsletters, to increase visibility and support for the organization.
- Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns to support the organization’s initiatives.
- Recruit potential foster families to provide temporary care for puppies in training to become service dogs
- Identifying potential volunteers, coordinating volunteer training sessions, and managing the volunteer pool to support various aspects of the organization like puppy raising,event planning, and the warrior classes.
- Collect and analyze feedback from outreach activities to measure effectiveness and make improvements.
- Represent Leashes of Valor at community events and fairs to expand the organization’s reach and network.
- Stay informed about issues affecting veterans and the service dog community to provide accurate information and advocacy
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in public speaking, community outreach, or marketing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to connect with diverse community members and stakeholders.
- Passion for serving veterans and understanding of PTSD and related challenges.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 25 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Nights as needed
- Weekends as needed

Willingness to travel:
- 25% (Preferred)
