Job Summary:
Are you a creative person? Are you hard-working and looking for an exciting and fun opportunity? Leave it to Meeka is in search of an Event Assistant to help with event planning including setup and breakdown tasks. This part-time, independent contractor position could become permanent for the right candidate. The position will include light crafting, errand-running, light administrative work, and most importantly, onsite event support. You must be willing to work a flexible schedule, especially on weekends, with hours that will change weekly depending on scheduled events. You must live in the Metro Detroit area and have reliable transportation to travel to the various locations of events throughout Michigan. As a Day-of-Event Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the logistical and operational aspects of events on the day of execution.
Responsibilities:
Pre-Event Preparation:
· Review event plans, timelines, and layouts to familiarize yourself with details prior to the event.
· Assist with setting up event spaces, including decorations, signage, and equipment, according to the client's and our specifications.
· Participate in pre-event meetings with management to ensure expectations are met.
On-Site Coordination:
· Arrive early on the day of the event to assist with setup and ensure everything is in place as per the plan.
Problem Solving:
· Quickly identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the event, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
· Communicate effectively with the Lead Event Planner and team members to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
Post-Event Duties:
· Assist with event breakdown and cleanup, ensuring that the venue is left in excellent condition post-event and event supplies and decorations are packed up efficiently and neatly.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma and some college completed.
· Must have reliable transportation.
· Evening and weekend availability is a must.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Positive and energetic personality.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
· Attention to detail and creativity are integral.
· Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations during events.
· Able to lift 30 to 50 lbs.
· Able to stand and walk for long periods.
