Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors, troubleshoots, evaluates, and resolves performance and capacity issues.
- Identifies problem areas, bottlenecks and network problems; use various network tools to provide resolution for system issues; maintains, monitors and performs configuration backups; prepares system documentation.
- Collaborates on the design and implementation of new technical solutions.
- Assists in the administration of the MAN/ISP, hardware, circuits and software
- Configuration of E mail, Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) systems; installs and configures systems; assists with security and third-party software installation.
- Performs installation/maintenance of routers, switches, wireless access points/radios, and other network equipment on towers and customer premises.
- Completes wireless installations/service calls/site surveys as assigned on a daily basis.
- Maintains professional appearance and behavior in accordance with company accepted standards.
- Communicates in a professional manner with customers; discuss equipment placement, cable routing and paperwork completion; uses a courteous and professional approach to address customer questions and concerns.
- Performs all work in accordance with company quality and safety standards, policies and procedures.
- Ensures that Utility vehicles are presentable and organized; assists with coordination of vehicle maintenance, routine oil changes, inspection/registration, brake repair and cleaning.
- Assists in ensuring that all assigned inventory is up-to-date and accurate.
Qualifications:
- College degree in telecommunications or computer science/technology or three (3) years in a related customer and/or technical support role required.
- Experience with administration, implementation and troubleshooting of Internet Protocol (IP) routers, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches and firewalls; basic experience with design, implementation and troubleshooting of IP network routing policies; basic experience with Network Address Translation (NAT) and IP network Quality of Service (QoS) policies; basic understanding of configuration and installation of routers, switches and other solution components; Ubiquiti, Cambium, Mikrotik, and Cisco networking equipment preferred.
- Basic understanding of Windows/Linux Server installation/administration.
- Solid knowledge of networking and electrical codes and standards relative to residential or commercial communications cabling including basic networking troubleshooting on PC/Mac, familiarity with Small Home and Office (SOHO) networking routers/switches.
- Must be able to demonstrate attention to accuracy on all duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to analyze and define problems, prioritize workflow, multitask, meet deadlines and remain flexible.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff including senior management, internal and external customers.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- A valid Indiana driver’s license required.
