Job Summary:

To perform sorting, washing, drying and finishing functions of the laundry department as assigned while maintaining linen inventory and distribution.

characteristic job tasks and responsibilities:

• Collect and sort soiled linen from all areas of hospital.
• Load and unload washing machines and dryers prior to folding laundry.
• Issue, store, and inventory hospital linen for all departments.
• Fill departmental requisitions by counting, assembling, and placing on carts for delivery to assigned departments.
• Inventory linen items periodically to determine replacement needs in order to maintain adequate supply.
• Assist in cleaning machines, floors and other cleaning duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Knowledge of various methods of maintaining, cleaning and preserving laundry with proper chemicals according to state and federal regulations.
