Senior Accountant-General Ledger

Our education client in Roxbury, MA is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant experienced in Higher Education to start immediately to complete a 6 month project to close 2024 fiscal year. This role will maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, year-end close, and audit preparation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA, Masters in Accounting highly preferred
- 5 years full cycle accounting experience in Higher Education, State or multiple-industry experience required
- MS Office, Advanced Excel, Jenzabar required

Project Requirements:
- Meet fiscal year close deadline: June 2025
- Expertise working in multiple Chart of Accounts, General Ledger & Sub Ledger
- Account Reconciliation, Month End Close, Tying Transactions Sub Ledger and performing adjustments in GL
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
- Reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, and other financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and institutional policies.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and budget reports.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
