Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join their accounting team in the East Bay, California. The ideal candidate will be crucial in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires an individual with a strong accounting background, who is detailed and deadline-oriented, and capable of operating in a changing environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute accounting responsibilities professionally following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare monthly balance sheets, income, and profit and loss statements.
- Code invoices, reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, and verify deposits.
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.
- Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Assist stakeholders by collecting necessary account information and documentation for audits and reporting.
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and general knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact with all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time, and multi-task with limited supervision, sometimes under time pressure.
- Self-starter with a can-do attitude and a team player.
- Dependable, flexible, and professional demeanor.

Pay:
$65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
