Job Description:
The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining standard costs and conducting ongoing cost analysis. This role will be a key member of the accounting team, providing costing support and contributing to other accounting functions.
- Manage and maintain the standard cost accounting system.
- Execute the month-end closing process efficiently.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and cost of sales.
- Prepare analyses for period cost reserves, excess & obsolete (E&O) reserves, and associated journal entries.
- Conduct variance analysis, including Purchase Price Variance and Work Order variances.
- Compile quarterly variance explanations for income statements and balance sheets.
- Oversee and lead the year-end physical inventory process.
- Create and distribute various daily, weekly, and monthly management reports.
- Assist with SOX testing and support financial audits.
- Ensure financial information is accurate and aligns with GAAP and internal accounting policies & procedures.
- Contribute to special projects and fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Controller.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Required).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in job cost analysis.
- Hands-on experience with month-end cutoff transactions and subledger reconciliation to the General Ledger.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Info XA ERP and BNA Fixed Assets is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work on holidays as needed.
