Position Summary:
The Assistant Brewer is a multifaceted role vital to the brewery's daily operations, encompassing cleaning, sanitation, production, inventory management, and potentially, bartending. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow within the brewing industry, with potential for increased involvement in the brewing process. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for craft beer. While prior brewing experience is preferred, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Perform rigorous cleaning and sanitization of all brewing equipment, including tap lines, fermenters, and tanks.
- Maintain a clean and organized brewery environment.
- Production:
- Assist with kegging and canning operations, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Perform cellar work, including monitoring fermentation and transferring beer.
- With experience, assist in various stages of the brewing process.
- Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring accurate tracking and organization.
- Stock and organize brewing supplies and materials.
- Logistics and Transportation:
- Transport, load, and unload raw materials and finished products.
- Assist with deliveries as needed.
- Operate a forklift
- General Duties:
- Maintain accurate records and logs.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of brewery equipment.
- Occasional weekend work is required.
- Bartending:
- Potentially fill bartending shifts as needed, providing excellent customer service and serving beverages.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a brewery or related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
- Passion for craft beer and a willingness to learn.
- Customer service skills.
Additional Information:
- This position includes a 6-week trial period, during which performance will be evaluated.
- Successful completion of the trial period will lead to a discussion regarding a performance-based raise.
