About the Role
Are you detail-oriented, organized, and motivated by accuracy and efficiency? Join our Payroll team and play a key role in supporting payroll operations for multiple Lee County government entities. As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll contribute to the smooth and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for the Lee County Board of County Commissioners, Lee County Port Authority, Lee County Clerk of Courts, and County-funded Court Administration employees.

The Payroll Specialist position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience: salary range $48,000 -$73,600 annually.
What You’ll Do
As a Payroll Intermediate Specialist, you will:
Support daily payroll operations and assist the Payroll Team with routine processing tasks
Maintain and update employee payroll records across all participating entities
Perform payroll-related reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance
Participate in payroll projects and process improvements
Assist with records management, including retention and destruction procedures
Provide responsive support to employees regarding payroll questions—in person, by phone, or electronically
Strong keyboarding and data-entry accuracy
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
The ability to learn department-specific payroll systems during the training period
Solid organizational and time-management skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Professionalism, confidentiality, and tact in sensitive situations
The ability to work independently or as part of a team
Comfort working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work extended hours when needed

- Associate’s degree with coursework in Accounting or Finance and two (2) years of related experience
- OR Four (4) years of directly related experience
