Position Function and Duties
The Fiscal Specialist 1 uses technical training, experience, skills, and knowledge to perform fiscal and accounting responsibilities within the General Accounting Office for the Lee County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller (Clerk’s Office), Lee County Board of County Commissioners (County), and Port Authority (Port).
Position Duties include but are not limited to:

Bank Reconciliations
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for the Clerk’s Office
- Assist with and serve as back-up for the County and Port bank reconciliation processes, as assigned

Fixed/Capital Assets

Maintain fixed/capital assets for the Clerk’s Office
- Process additions, transfers, and disposals
- Process monthly depreciation
- Assist with and serve as back-up for the County and Port fixed/capital asset processes, as assigned
- Assist with the annual inventory process and updates
- Review/approve invoices for capital asset purchases
- Perform fixed asset Attractive Item(s) reconciliation

Maintain fixed/capital assets for the Clerk’s Office

Other Reconciliations
- Perform monthly sales tax reconciliation for the Clerk’s Office and County
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, as assigned

Other Monitoring/Processing
- Process General Accounting and Cash Management & Investment office’s journal entries for the Clerk’s Office, County, and Port
- Import interface batches for the Clerk’s Office
- Monitor and process approved budget entries for the Clerk’s Office and County
- Monitor the restricted fund(s) invoices for proper authorization
- Record and process returned/worthless checks
- Process Livestock payments from the Sheriff, as needed
Qualifications
Education, Experience & Certification(s):
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Two years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting required; government accounting preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State statutes and regulations
- Ability to interpret and implement new or revised Federal and State statutes and regulations
- Ability to effectively use financial application, JD Edwards OneWorld preferred
- Accurate keyboarding, data entry and 10-key skills required
- Accurate sequential filing skills required
- Proficiency in business English and business math required
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with both fiscal and non-fiscal personnel
- Intermediate knowledge with Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook required
- Ability to assist others within knowledge areas
- This position is technical in nature and requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in performing each task
- Strong organization skills and time management skills required
- Ability to work effectively in a group or independently
- Effective interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and professional demeanor required
- Use tact in sensitive situations, maintain confidentiality of restricted files, and maintain a courteous attitude at all times
- Work is performed under minimum supervision; requires initiative and independent judgment
- Demonstrate proficiency with operations and general care of the PC, printers and other required office equipment
- Ability to work extended hours
