Description
This position in the Zoning Section of the Department of Community Development will be responsible for performing administrative duties such as processing zoning cases, coordinating public hearings, scheduling meetings, processing refunds, and supporting zoning records requests. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, exhibit exceptional attention to detail, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative, and creative problem-solving.
The Zoning Section is responsible for administering the Lee County Land Development Code and coordinating the review and analysis of applications for rezoning, special exceptions, and variances. The Zoning Section also administers the County's Historic Preservation Program, prepares periodic amendments to the Land Development Code, and provides technical assistance to the County's customer base. This position works directly with landowners, applicants, landscape architects, engineers, lawyers, and other county staff with a wide range of expertise to review, analyze, and make recommendations relative to land use and development in unincorporated Lee County.

Duties and Responsibilities
Work is evaluated under the general direction of a supervisor who reviews progress with an eye toward attaining mutually established goals and objectives and providing mentorship to facilitate professional development.
- Provides customer service to internal and external customers by answering phones, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff for response, scheduling meetings, and assisting with other requests from internal and external customers.
- Performs administrative duties which requires attention to detail for compliance with mandatory state / local deadlines and regulations. This includes processing zoning cases, scheduling public hearings, coordinating required advertising for public hearings, maintaining and updating files and records, processing legislative extension requests, processing refunds, and supporting zoning records requests.
- Exhibit strong independent thinking skills to analyze and solve complex problems autonomously.
- Demonstrate excellent multitasking abilities by efficiently managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Prints and distributes monthly reports and scans, files documents electronically, and performs research as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
