What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSS- SW II Guardianship position at Lee County Government?
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The primary purpose of this position is responsibility for Guardianship and Medicaid Administrative Claiming. Guardianship cases are appointed by the courts. Guardianship Social Worker completes visits to monitor cases and needs of the clients. Quarterly and annual reviews are maintained. Status Reports are completed annually and sent to the Clerk of Court in reference to the client's well-being. Conducts Medicaid Administrative Claiming activities involving making referrals and coordinating service delivery for medical, mental health, and substance abuse related needs covered by Medicaid. This position also serves as backup Social Worker for Adult Protective Service (APS) evaluations as needed. Also acts as Representative Payee for individuals who require assistance with financial needs.
Intake rotation is required in the unit performing duties such as accepting APS referrals, information and referral and various other functions. Emergency on-call is required in this position, for one week 7 to 8 times annually.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems. Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment. Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program. Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problem. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative members of case load and their families, and with civics medical, social and religious organizations. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees may be called upon in case of disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Lee County. This service, if required, will take precedence over duties described in this position vacancy announcement.
