General Definition of Work: The Lee County Human Resources department is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of a Human Resources Assistant. This position performs administrative work preparing documentation for employee orientation, interviews, assisting with employee functions, coordinating, and maintaining individual employee’s personnel records, and related work as apparent or assigned. This employee will be the coordinator for Laser Fische scanning and manage the personnel filing.
Essential Functions: Maintains applicant database for human resources activities, tracks progress of applicant data records and other recruitment activities. Posts all vacant positions; maintains files of job postings and applications. Updates and records jobs; coordinates the posting of current job announcements on the Human Resources web page; sends job announcements to appropriate agencies. Coordinate the Laser fiche scanning system; ensures that all documents are scanned in the appropriate order. Manages personnel inquiries; maintains personnel files; ensures the maintenance of files. Assist with employee orientation of New Hires, preparing all packets and related documentation. Sorts and distributes department mail. Responsible for management of mail room activities. Provides telephone coverage for department. Prepares HR agenda items, makes meeting arrangements, and takes and transcribes minutes. Handles confidential or sensitive technical information in an appropriate manner. Provides assistance to other departmental staff and may serve as backup for assigned duties. Assists Human Resources Director with various tasks assigned to HR.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of the philosophy, principles and practices of public personnel administration; general knowledge of the county's activities, policies and procedures; ability to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software; ability to maintain the confidentiality of personnel information and files for employees and applicants; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, county officials, associates and the general public.
Education and Experience: Associates degree and moderate experience working in human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
