We are seeking enthusiastic, community-focused individuals to join our leadership team as Branch Managers for the North Fort Myers Public Library and Pine Island Public Library. The ideal candidates will be proactive self-starters with a deep appreciation for public library service. They will exhibit strong leadership, excellent judgment, and a commitment to working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate staff and volunteers, ensuring smooth operations and excellent service delivery. Coordinate daily workflows and foster a positive, productive team culture.
- Customer Service Excellence: Provide outstanding service by assisting library patrons of all ages with resources, including books, electronic resources, computers, and reference materials. Demonstrate expertise in readers' advisory for all age groups.
- Collection Management: Oversee regular maintenance of library collections, including selection, weeding, and promotional displays to ensure relevant, engaging, and accessible resources.
- Program Development & Delivery: Design, plan, and present programs for children, teens, and adults, both at the library and through outreach efforts. Collaborate with school groups and community organizations to deliver impactful library tours and programs.
- Technology Training: Provide staff and patron training in library technologies and emerging trends, ensuring all users are equipped to make the most of available resources.
- Branch Leadership: Manage operations for specific shifts or days, overseeing all library functions and serving as the main point of contact for staff and patrons.
- Policy and Procedures: Effectively communicate and enforce library policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and fairness in their application.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, library innovations, and emerging technologies. Actively pursue professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with staff from other library departments, library administration, and community organizations. Build and maintain positive relationships with the Library Friends group and other local groups to enhance library services and programming.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an accredited graduate library program.
- Two years of experience in a library or customer service role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of progressively responsible experience as a professional librarian.
- Two years of supervisory experience in a library or related setting.
- Experience working in a public library and managing library services.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) are a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse community.
- Proven leadership ability with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in emerging technologies and the ability to train others on library systems and services.
- Strong planning, organization, and analytical skills for developing and delivering community programs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move books and materials, up to 30 pounds, as required.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the library to engage with staff and patrons.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,400
