GIS Technician
Division: Department of Resource Management
Reports to: GIS Specialist
Worksite: Land Department
Work Hours: M -F, 8:00 am to 4;30 pm
LLBO Status: Non-exempt
Safety Sensitive: No
License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable.
Summary: Will assist in maintaining, editing and creating the DRM's geospatial database. Along with contributing to building the DRM's database, the Technician will assist the GIS Specialist and DRM staff with various geospatial projects.
Education Requirements and Experience:
Completed an Associate's Degree or working towards a Bachelor's Degree in GIS or Geography, Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences or similar degree with GIS emphasis.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Self-motivated, hardworking.
Ability to follow complex instructions.
Strong attention to detail.
At least I year experience required using ArcGIS Software.
Proficient using Microsoft Office.
Background in Land Use or Land Planning a plus.
Good oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Build land records utilizing ArcGIS Software from land legal descriptions.
Correct or create land legal descriptions.
Produce basic maps utilizing ArcGIS Software for DRM staff.
Assist DRM staff with geospatial questions and projects.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Adhere to policies governing staff conduct. All other related duties as assigned.

Sedentary work.
