GIS Technician

Paul Bunyan Communications has an immediate opening for a GIS Technician.

Job Summary:

Performs Geographic Information System (GIS) tasks in support of engineering and operations related projects; tracks and maintains the records related to those assignments.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with GIS Supervisor and/or other departments to gather project requirements and to identify, secure, and manage resources (internal or external) required to complete assignments and projects.
• Ensure adherence to established procedures to carry out the maintenance of key graphical and non-graphical data, maps, records, and other information required for the department's various business processes in support of internal and external customers.
• Utilize GIS skills to support internal clients and provide information and database updates as requested through GIS analysis and report generation. Analyze and interpret spatial data to ensure system integrity.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software.
• Experience with ESRI software: ArcMAP, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, ArcGIS Online etc. 
• Experience with the various types of geodatabases and sourcing data from various entities; MN Geo, County sources, Census Bureau etc. 
• Map production experience; digital, hard copy, story maps etc. 
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 
• Attention to detail and accuracy.

 Education:

• Requires a certificate or degree in GIS or closely related field (two years of GIS work experience may be substituted for education).
