Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in accounting software.
Responsibilities
- Process and review invoices for accuracy, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage vendor accounts, including resolving discrepancies and maintaining positive relationships.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries related to accounts payable transactions.
- Collaborate with the payroll department to ensure timely processing of employee reimbursements.
- Support tax-related activities by providing necessary documentation and reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and internal controls related to accounts payable processes.
- Provide assistance in corporate accounting tasks as needed, including accounts receivable functions.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft or Sage is preferred.
- Strong understanding of general ledger reconciliation processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements is a plus.
- Experience in tax preparation or related activities is desirable.
- Knowledge of payroll processes and human resources functions is beneficial.
- Previous experience in corporate accounting or similar roles is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with vendors and internal stakeholders.
