Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the financial activities of a diverse portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting property management operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Perform variance analyses and provide explanations for deviations from budgets or forecasts.
- Accounts Management:
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices and collection of rents.
- Reconcile bank accounts, tenant ledgers, and other property-related accounts.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and monthly reforecasts.
- Collaborate with property managers to monitor financial performance and address variances.
- CAM Reconciliations:
- Perform Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and prepare tenant billings in accordance with lease agreements.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with lease terms for all property charges.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Maintain internal controls to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
- Prepare documentation to support external audits and address auditor inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
- Proficiency in property management accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
