Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with preferred experience in the banking or financial services industry. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the strategic goals of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements specific to the banking industry, such as call reports and compliance with financial institution regulations.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits and examinations.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing detailed financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Review and enhance internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure efficient financial operations.
- Analyze and report on key financial metrics and trends to management, offering actionable insights.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and reconciliations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent preferred).
- 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the banking or financial services industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting standards for financial institutions.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools; experience with [specific banking software, e.g., Fiserv or SAP] is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis functions.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
