CNC Router Operator Job Description
Position Summary:
A CNC router operator uses a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) router to cut various materials, like metal, plastic, and wood. The CNC Router Operator will be responsible for setting up routing machine properly before beginning work, read blueprints as instructions for cutting, and operate the machine safely to produce high-quality precision parts and components.
Essential Functions (Other duties as assigned):
· Set up and operate CNC machines to perform milling, drilling, turning, and other machining operations.
· Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure proper performance and quality output.
· Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the appropriate machining processes and tooling required.
· Inspect finished parts and components for quality and accuracy.
· Rework wood to create the blueprint design.
· Measure and verify all calculations prior to setting up the machinery.
· Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn tooling and machine components.
· Enter all relevant codes to specify the feed, speed, and cut of any toolpath for a CNC.
· Collaborate with other members of the manufacturing team to ensure production goals and deadlines are met.
· Maintain accurate records of production output and quality control.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and Required Skills:
· High school diploma or GED
· 2 years of experience operating CNC machines (SCM, HOMAG, etc.) in a manufacturing setting preferred.
· Familiarity with CNC G-Code preferred.
· Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and programming.
· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
· Excellent organizational skills
· In-depth knowledge of wood machinery
· Excellent reporting and analytical skills
· Excellent understanding of mechanics and mathematics
· Ability to interpret 3D drawings and orthographic projection.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements.
Working Condition:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noise levels consistent with a mill work factory environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
