Job Description:
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Designer prepares CAD drawings and all shop paperwork needed to support the production, sales, and installation of Leer Walk-In coolers and freezers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare CAD drawing layouts of custom walk-ins to support sales, the production floor, and the field installation of Leer Walk-Ins.
- Develop detailed CAD drawings of custom panels, special sheet metal, and wiring diagrams.
- Revise existing drawings, both on CAD or in pencil from marked-up drawings or sketches.
- Prepare ECNs, subject to approval of product structures and item masters.
- Prepare product packing lists, sheet metal cut lists, labels, and bills of material for each project.
- Generate exploded views of assemblies and sub-assemblies for use in publications and manuals.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical Associate Degree Minimum (2-year degree)
- Two to five years’ experience in 2D CAD and/or Solid Works.
- Two to five years’ experience in Engineering Documentation development and maintenance.
- Solid ability to understand mechanical drawings, specifically involving sheet metal design and manufacturing.
- Working familiarity with manufacturing processes: metal cutting, bending, forming, and assembly.
- Superior computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office programs required.
- Autolisp/iLogic programming knowledge is a plus.
- Must have strong communication skills and work well in a team environment.
- Must understand MRP systems, part numbers, and flow of material.
