Job Description:
Summary
Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment or multiple establishments according to production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing production work, conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and supplying updates on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
1. Compiles and oversees in-plant distribution of work schedule.
2. Planning and scheduling workflow for each department according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
3. Planning sequence of assembly and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
4. Adjusts schedules to meet emergencies caused by extended lead times, increased production demands, or expedite requests.
5. Help develop new planning/scheduling tools and their derived reports.
6. Set manufacturing priorities and work with manufacturing to assure that priorities are run in a timely fashion.
7. Monitors, analyzes & reports production’s schedule obtainment, utilizing information derived from production and inventory control systems.
8. Interfaces with Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, and Production to ensure plant efficiency and ultimately customer satisfaction.
9. Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge & analytical abilities.
Qualifications
Successful candidate must have a degree in manufacturing, or a closely related field, with a strong work history in the manufacturing industry. Good communication skills are necessary for adequate task completion. A.P.I.C.S. certification is highly desirable.
