Job Summary:
Lee’s Ice is looking to hire a Managing Director who will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations and performance of the ice manufacturing and distribution business in multiple locations. This individual needs to have experience in creating the foundation for a fast-growing, scalable business by ensuring a high level of efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while being able to maintain a local company service mentality. The ideal candidate will need to have strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and experience in creating the structure for scaling a business.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee the ice manufacturing process, ensuring continuous and efficient production to meet customer demand.
- Implement a plan for tracking maintenance, PM scheduling and repairs of production equipment and machinery to minimize downtime.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure all products meet industry standards and meet customer specifications.
- Directly managing and supporting the General Manager to ensure they effectively oversee operational functions, including staff management, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
- Provide guidance to the General Manager on strategic planning, problem-solving, maintenance operations and operational improvements.
Team Leadership and Staff Management:
- Ensure performance reviews, training, and professional development opportunities for staff are standard practice.
- Ensure that safety protocols and workplace regulations are consistently followed.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage the company’s budget, ensuring financial targets are met and costs are controlled.
- Monitor production costs, labor, and materials to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends, forecast demand, and recommend improvements.
- Monitor and control costs, optimize resource utilization, and drive profit margin improvements.
Sales and Customer Service:
- Develop and implement sales strategies to increase market share and build relationships with new and existing customers.
- Oversee customer service to ensure high levels of satisfaction, timely deliveries, and resolution of any complaints.
- Manage pricing strategies and negotiate contracts with key customers.
Logistics and Distribution:
- Coordinate the timely and efficient delivery of products to customers, ensuring proper inventory levels and minimizing waste.
- Optimize delivery routes and maintain relationships with logistics providers.
- Oversee warehouse operations and inventory management.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding ice production, food safety, and workplace health and safety.
- Implement and enforce strict safety measures and regular inspections of the facility.
Strategic Planning and Business Growth:
- Work with senior leadership to develop and execute long-term strategic plans to grow the business and enhance market presence.
- Evaluate market trends and identify opportunities for new products or services.
- Monitor competition and adjust business strategies as needed to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Managing Director or senior executive role within the manufacturing industry.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in operations management, preferably in manufacturing or food production industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or related field (preferred).
- Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budget management and cost optimization.
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations within the manufacturing industry.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and customer needs.
