Job Summary:
The Power Trader will be the transaction lead and be responsible for identifying and executing the revenue enhancing transactions (Short-term and Long-term) derived from the market/opportunities and analysis conducted by the Market and Research Analysts. The universe of transactions available will encompass energy (ICE Transactions, DA/RT, Virtuals, bilateral, Point to Point, UTC), Capacity and REC transactions as approved by LRE Risk Management protocols. Additionally, the Power Trader will be part of the team responsible for on-boarding new assets in the portfolio in the appropriate RTO/EIM and their inclusion in Leeward’s Scheduling /Settlement and ETRM systems. The Power Trader will also be responsible for scheduling assets and trades with the ISOs.

Responsibilities:
- Execute short to medium term energy trades consistent with the approved trading strategies (Asset Optimization, Congestion, RECs and Capacity) and risk limits approved by the Risk Oversite Committee, and the LRE Board.
- Analyze and quantify risk and develop transaction strategies that mitigate and/or eliminate portfolio risk.
- Analyze and quantify the potential benefit/risk of asset optimization transactions and execute trades with favorable risk profile.
- Analyze and quantify the impact of ISO congestion on LRE asset and ISO trading hub clearing prices.
- Schedule assets and virtual trades with the ISOs using Adapt2 Scheduling and ETRM system, Weekends and Holidays included.
- Execute financial trades through ICE or the Nodal exchange.
- Develop and execute trading/optimization strategies for a growing portfolio and communicate results/strategies to the LRE leadership.
- Maintain and issue accurate risk reports.
- Operate within LRE risk guidelines and core values
- 2 to 5 years’ experience on an energy trading or energy management desk preferably as a Scheduler, Junior Trader or Portfolio Analyst with a desire to expand existing role and assume expanded transactional responsibilities.
- Experience in PJM, ERCOT and CAISO energy markets and commodities (Energy, RECs, Capacity): Transactional experience in PJM highly preferred.
- Critical thinker and with strong analytical skills capable of identifying market trends and risk to develop risk mitigation and revenue enhancing strategies.
- Exceptional modeling skills with the ability to combine fundamental variables across the various grids to help inform directional views on the market (Excel Strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated in depth knowledge of wholesale electricity and natural gas markets and RTO/ISO market of constructs
- Strong decision-making capabilities and drive for bottom line results
- Must hold Bachelor’s degree in Business or STEM.
- Proficient with Excel, Power Point and Word
- Adapt2 experience a plus.
- This position will travel 5-10% of time
- Position will require sitting for long periods of time as well as occasionally lifting to twenty-pound boxes.
- Not a remote position.
