LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW

Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness and mental health. In addition to our college driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE everyday and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated in the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher shall report directly to the principal and assume responsibility for providing skill training to high school scholars in a particular field of expertise as set forth in the course curriculum.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the scholars
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the scholars
  • Prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences of scholars
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Encourage scholars to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or scholar groups involved.
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Assess scholar learning, through observations, authentic performance, and more formal methods, in an ongoing manner, providing frequent scholar feedback, information to parents and written progress reports
  • Utilize diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every scholar, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic and leadership standards
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the school for all scholars
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing scholar life and conduct
  • Maintain and improve professional competence
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with scholars, parents, and community members
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • 2 years of successful lead teaching experience in an under-resourced community, preferred
  • Experience working with English Language Learners, preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish),preferred
  • Dedication to helping children grow and learn
  • Relentless focus on results and a commitment to teamwork

Work Schedule

Teachers will operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, on the 10-month academic school year schedule. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

  • Long periods of standing and sitting and having the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high quality education for all students.
