Legacy Engineering Group is excited to offer an opportunity for an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Transportation Design team. This position is ideal for individuals who have recently completed their engineering education and are eager to gain practical experience in transportation engineering. As an EIT, you will work under the supervision of licensed engineers and contribute to various transportation projects that improve community mobility and safety.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E) for transportation infrastructure projects.
· Assist in the design and development of transportation PS&E projects for public and private clients which includes Roadway, Traffic Control Phasing, Retaining Walls, Drainage, Traffic Signals, Illumination, Signing & Pavement Markings, Traffic Management Systems, Storm Water Pollution Plan, Utilities, etc.
· Perform data collection, analysis, and reporting for transportation projects.
· Use design software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer) to develop and modify project plans.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, planners, and environmental specialists.
· Participate in site visits and inspections to gather data and ensure project compliance with design standards.
· Communicate effectively with project team members and stakeholders, both in writing and verbally.
· Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS / CAPABILITIES / CREDENTIALS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
· Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
· Recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience in transportation engineering or a related area is required.
· Strong interest in transportation engineering and a desire to pursue a career in this field.
· Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer or similar tools.
· Basic understanding of transportation engineering principles, standards, and regulations.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
· Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
· Eagerness to learn and grow professionally under the guidance of experienced engineers.
