YOUR OPPORTUNITY
Legacy Engineering Group, PLLC has an immediate opening for a full-time Utility Engineer in Training (EIT) to be a part of our dynamic team in San Antonio, Texas.
This role involves working closely with utility companies, project teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure the seamless and efficient installation, relocation, and upgrade of utilities. As a Utility EIT, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing utility-related tasks to prevent conflicts, minimize delays, and avoid cost overruns.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of utility systems, including electrical, water, sewer, gas, telecommunications, and other relevant infrastructure.
- Demonstrate knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations concerning utility coordination and construction.
- Utilize problem-solving abilities to address unforeseen utility conflicts and challenges.
- Use leadership skills to mentor junior team members and lead coordination.
- Carefully review utility and construction plans with attention to detail to identify potential issues.
- Assist in the preparation of the utility conflict matrix, utility conflict exhibits, utility agreements, permits, and documentation required for project approval and execution.
- Apply effective communication and negotiation skills to foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders.
- Exhibit strong project management skills, including task prioritization, timeline management, and meeting deadlines.
- Establish utility research methods, such as utility mapping, GIS technologies, and document review.
- Conduct field inspections and site visits to ensure utility installations comply with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS / CAPABILITIES / CREDENTIALS
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in utility coordination, with a successful track record in managing utility components of engineering projects, is preferred.
- A licensed Engineer In Training (EIT) in the State of Texas, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment, is preferred.
- Familiarity with software and tools such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
- Proven experience in utility research, coordination plan development, and utility design review.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and excellent organizational abilities are essential.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
