We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our NASCAR team. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in quality assurance and process improvement within the fast-paced and competitive environment of motorsports. The ideal candidate will ensure that all race car components and processes meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures for race car components, including incoming inspection, in-process checks, and final verification.
- Conduct root cause analyses for part failures alongside the engineering department and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and specifications.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze manufacturing and assembly processes to identify areas for efficiency improvements.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures to reduce variability and enhance reliability and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall team performance.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Utilize data from suppliers and in-house inspection tools, such as Romer arms, Creaform scanners and mechanical measurements, to monitor trends and proactively detect issues.
- Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics, inspection results, and failure investigations.
Supplier Interaction:
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve quality issues, define specifications, and ensure on-time delivery of conforming parts.
- Perform supplier audits as needed to maintain quality standards.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with NASCAR regulations and any applicable safety standards.
- Participate in pre-race and post-race inspections to guarantee compliance and readiness.
Qualifications:
Experience: 2–3 years in a quality engineering role, ideally within automotive manufacturing, aerospace, or a related field. Motorsports experience is a plus but not required.
Education: Equivalent professional experience will be considered in place of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in quality tools such as Romer arms, Creaform scanners, PowerInspect software, SPC, and root cause analysis techniques.
Familiarity with CAD software and an understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, and composite materials.
- Knowledge of NASCAR rules and regulations or similar motorsports experience.
- Passion for high-performance vehicles and motorsports.
Location: Statesville, NC
Pay: Competitive, commensurate with experience
