Legacy Parking is a rapidly growing Parking Asset Management company looking to add an Accounting Manager to our Corporate team in Downtown Chicago! The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting the company’s financial objectives. This role involves managing the accounting team, maintaining compliance with financial regulations, and preparing reports that inform business decisions. The Accounting Manager works closely with senior leadership to implement and enforce accounting policies, drive process improvements, and support strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Management
- Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger staff.
- Assign tasks, set deadlines, and monitor progress to ensure the team meets financial reporting and operational goals.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP).
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, coordinating with external auditors as necessary.
- General Accounting Operations
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Monitor and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, ensuring proper account coding and reconciliations.
- Review journal entries and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, collaborating with senior leadership to align with company objectives.
- Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Process Improvement and Internal Controls
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices to improve efficiency.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Regularly review policies and procedures to maintain compliance and address evolving business needs.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with other departments, including operations and finance, to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
- Provide financial insights and support for special projects, such as system implementations or business expansions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (e.g., GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a focus on team development and collaboration.
