Attorney | In-house Counsel – Worker’s Compensation, Hybrid - Missouri
Location: Hybrid, Kansas City, St. Louis, or Springfield, MO area.
Must reside in MO due to occasional court appearances.
Salary: $130k annually DOE
Schedule: Full-Time, typically Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

This mostly hybrid role, with some on-site presence in Missouri, involves overseeing workers’ compensation claims litigation, handling a heavy trial and deposition schedule in Missouri courts, and collaborating with professional representatives and expert witnesses. Key Responsibilities
- Manage workers’ compensation cases from intake to resolution, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Handle appeals and navigate legal complexities to secure favorable outcomes.
- Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Negotiate settlements with opposing parties, insurance companies, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Draft persuasive legal briefs and motions to support the client's position.
- Attend hearings, depositions, and mediations, interacting with all parties involved.
- Collaborate with paralegals and legal teams to develop trial strategies.
- Travel locally, in Missouri, as needed for court appearances, depositions, and hearings.
What We’re Looking For:
- Law degree from an ABA-accredited school and active Missouri Bar member in good standing.
- 5 years of workers' compensation law and litigation experience in Missouri.
- Expertise in Missouri workers' compensation law, litigation, and legal risk management.
- Strong trial advocacy and appellate litigation skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Advanced understanding of state rules of evidence and civil/appellate procedure.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage large caseloads and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, and ALJs.
- Strong analytical skills for complex legal issues.
- Capable of working independently and remotely, collaborating with professionals.
