We are a non-profit organization providing free legal counsel in civil matters. Our services support thousands of families and individuals who cannot afford an attorney.
As part of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with the Director of Social Work and the Supervising Attorney to provide assistance to clients in extreme emotional crisis, assist vulnerable clients, and provide resources and referrals.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients in extreme emotional crisis
- Assist vulnerable clients facing homelessness, loss of income, and lack of food
- Provide resources and referrals
- Informal advocacy
- Community education
- Supervise interns
- Work with community agencies
- Short-term supportive counseling
- Conduct home visits when necessary
- Conduct interviews and initial assessments
Requirements
- M.S.W. degree from an accredited school of social work
- New York State License or willingness to acquire
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
- Strong interest in advocacy
