What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Litigation Attorney position at Legally Hired Professionals, Inc?
Our client is a well-respected litigation law firm in White Plains, NY. It is currently seeking a talented junior associate with prior litigation experience to join its expanding civil defense and national litigation practices. The hired associate will have an opportunity to litigate a variety of matters including product liability, commercial business disputes, general liability, asbestos/talc defense and/or various other interesting litigation matters. The candidate will have at least 3-5 years of litigation experience and excellent research, investigation, and writing skills are required.
Responsibilities:
- Handle a variety of litigation matters under the supervision of senior attorneys.
- Prepare and respond to initial pleadings, motions to dismiss, written fact discovery demands, and discovery-related motions.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and other legal documents.
- Independently manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Collaborate with colleagues and assist in trial preparation.
Requirements:
- Admission to practice law in the State of New York.
- Minimum of (3-5 years) of litigation experience.
- Working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the New York CPLR.
- Previous experience with motions, discovery, and meet-and-confer correspondence.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deposition experience, including independently taking and defending depositions.
- Courtroom experience, including presenting oral arguments in motion practice.
- Experience with trial-related court filings such as motions in limine, requests to charge, and verdict sheets.
- Secondary admission to practice law in the State of New Jersey and/or State of Connecticut is a plus.
Salary : $85,000 - $150,000
