PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position is responsible for daily processing of all incoming return deposit items, non-post, reclamations and for processing the daily NSF report; as well as completing all official subpoena, summons, levies, freezes, and garnishments and other department duties as required. This position requires resourcefulness, accuracy and initiative in the performance of the duties and professionalism when interacting with customers and bank personnel. Backs up other areas of the department as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for Return Item Processing (NSF items) in accordance with officer decisions and within established deadlines. Interact with and provide support to officers regarding questions about specific transactions.
Processes Return Deposited Items from daily cash letters and the ECORP Returned ACH report. Is responsible for reviewing account of deposit and working with account officer to determine if the items will be charged back to the customer or returned to the bank of first deposit.
Receives large item notifications daily and confers with account officer to determine if hold should be placed according to Regulation CC guidelines and then processes the actual item when received.
Responsible for processing all non post items received. Reviews account and works with the officer to determine whether to return or post the item.
Completes adjustments and reversals on daily basis.
Reviews customer’s accounts daily that have reported lost / stolen checks to the bank. Compares information provided by customer to determine whether to pay the item or return. Works with the branch to communicate any questions.
As needed, will process reclamations by completing research on the account to determine if full reclamation must be submitted immediately or if there are alternatives to payment.
Review Prenote report daily. Send an NOC to the originating financial institution.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Back up other areas of Deposit Services as needed.
Pursue additional knowledge through training offered through Digital University and by Legend Bank
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Accuracy is mandatory.
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Accuracy is mandatory. 1 to 2 years banking experience required. Deposit Services or Personal Bankier experience is preferred. Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills required.
