What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver/Direct Support Professional/DSP variety of shifts position at Legends Residential Care Llc?
Direct Support Professionals support and assist Individuals with developmental disabilities in developing/enhancing basic living and other life skills, promoting independence and individual choice. They must also have In-depth knowledge of behavior redirection strategies and risk reduction.
- Completing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes, and tidying.
- Helps plan member appointments and organize a schedule to include transportation needs.
- Shopping for groceries and preparing meals
- Assists members with personal care and hygiene needs as needed, including but not limited to toileting, dining, showering, dressing, and grooming.
- Helps maintain a clean and safe environment at your assigned house by performing mandatory daily and weekly cleaning responsibilities.
- Encouraging member engagement in social networks and communities.
- Provides hands-on assistance, instruction, guidance, training, and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings on an individual, minor, or large group basis. Your first commitment is to the person you support.

- Supports members 24/7, including awake all-night supervision.
- Attends and participates in required Legends meetings and training programs.

- Provides crisis intervention and redirection for the members.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Obtain and maintain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must pass criminal background checks.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Three references. Two (2) professional.
Physical Requirements:
- Supports members 24/7, including all-night awake supervision.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. when necessary.
- This position requires that employees remain awake during working hours.
- Must operate a computer, wheelchair brake, vehicle lifts, etc.
- Must stoop, squat, reach, stretch, hear, see, ascend, and descend stairs at work.
- Visual acuity is used to assess the well-being and drive of members.
- Must be able to utilize arms, legs, and body to quickly block, reposition, and appropriately respond in crises and emergencies.
- Able to communicate verbally with members and emergency personnel as needed for daily operations.
- Hearing ability for communication in persona, phone, and other electronic methods.
- Manual dexterity to assist members with paperwork and daily functions.
- Must be able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if necessary.
