ROLE Summary 

Participate in the day-to-day responsibilities of the area while providing high quality customer service and adhering to the department’s operational standards.  To effectively maintain the Resort’s waste and recycling processes.  Participate in delivering a positive impact of promoting the environmental and economic benefits of the environmental sustainability program and carbon reduction plan for the Resort. 

Key Accountabilities 

  • Responsible for the collection, sorting, and processing of various types of waste materials, including recyclables and general waste.  
  • Operate specialized waste management equipment and machinery safely and efficiently. 
  • Ensure all waste management activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. 

Main Responsibilities 

  • To ensure a safe and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of waste and recyclables throughout the Resort.  
  • Support the waste and recycling operation.  Enacts in the efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of all waste and recyclables generated onsite. 
  • Ensure World Class Standards are delivered and exceeded involving customer service with other departments and guest interaction. 
  • Oversee the daily operation, inspection, and general maintenance of the truck route vehicle during assigned shifts, ensuring reliable performance and strict compliance with all park speed and safety regulations. 
  • Responsible for the general upkeep of the waste compactors and a vertical strike down cardboard baler utilized during the assigned shift. 
  • Responsible for the general upkeep of the waste and recycling containers throughout the resort from a quality perspective. 
  • Strictly adhere to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with safety regulations related to the transportation and operation of job-specific equipment, as well as the proper handling, disposal, and recycling of waste materials. 

 

Qualifications & Experience

Background and Experience: 

  • Theme Park or related customer service experience is preferred. 
  • Requires excellent organizational and planning skills.   
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks is required.   
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated initiative.  
  • Leads by example with a demonstrated history of supporting colleagues, a team player.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills and dedicated to providing outstanding guest service.   

Education: 

  • High school graduate or General Education Degree (or equivalent education and experience) is required. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to stand and move around for sustained periods of time while servicing all staging areas behind scenes throughout the resort. 
  • Frequently moves and transports waste and recycling containers weighing up to 75 pounds from all staging areas to the Service Pad with the use of the trailer designated on the truck route. 
  • Frequently maneuvers complete cardboard and shrink wrap bales at the Service Pad with the use of a pallet jack. 
  • Frequently maneuver and unload various recyclables in their appropriate storage containers at the Service Pad. 
  • Ensure finger dexterity is sufficient to complete paperwork activities. 
  • Demonstrate a strong visual acuity necessary for accurately reading detailed documentation, completing administrative tasks with precision, and operating a vehicle safely and effectively. 
  • Possess a auditory acuity sufficient to effectively communicate with individuals in diverse environments, including face-to-face, via telephone, and over two-way radio, ensuring clear and accurate information exchange in routine and emergency situations. 

Work Environment: 

  • Work across diverse indoor and outdoor environments, adapting to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and a wide range of floor surfaces to ensure safety and performance. 
  • Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. 

Other Job Requirements: 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support park operations. 
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver License & safe driving record for operation of Service Route Vehicles. 
  • Must be able to provide proof of insurance. 
  • Must be able to drive a truck (F150) with the use of a trailer designated on the truck route.  (A CDL License is not required)  
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age to facilitate the day-to-day responsibilities with the truck route. 
  • Must be a self-starter and able to stay on task. 
  • Must be able to work with little to no supervision. 
  • Must be able to follow verbal instructions and adapt to a rapid changing environment. 
  • Must be able to appropriately prioritize assignments given and understand the importance of time management. 
  • Demonstrate comfort and competence in handling various types of waste and recyclable materials, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and sanitation protocols. 
  • Train to safely operate and maintain 35-yard waste compactors and vertical strike-down cardboard balers, ensuring efficient waste management and compliance with operational safety standards. 
  • Must understand the physical demands of the job required. 
  • Occasionally utilize specialized equipment such as pressure washers to maintain high standards of cleanliness and operational readiness across service pads and ‘Back Of The House’ staging areas, ensuring a pristine and professional resort environment. 
  • Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.
