Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates machinery and equipment, under general supervision of department supervisor. Performs duties of heavy snow removal.
- Maintenance Mechanic A personnel will be expected to perform any and all duties of Maintenance “A”, “B”, “C”, and Custodian when needed.
- Works independently and performs as a leader to other maintenance personnel in accomplishing necessary tasks as assigned.
- Requires attention to detail
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to work some night shifts as needed
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Auto body repairs and painting of vehicles in the Airport Authority's fleet
- Painting of all airfield markings for runways, taxiways, ramps, etc.
- Painting of all parking lots and roadways in the terminal area, all hangars, and properties.
- Automotive repairs to gasoline engines on fleet vehicles, and specialty systems on all fire fighting vehicles.
- Fabrication and welding
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years related work experience, Diesel Mechanic, and Heavy Equipment Operation.
- Class 7 inspection or willing to get in 1 year/class B with airbrake endorsement
- CDL license for Automotive Mechanic
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma required.
- Basic Mathematics Skills
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment, including heavy snow removal equipment.
- Must possess a Valid Drivers License.
- Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to TSA security clearance, fingerprinting, pre-employment drug test and Lehigh Carbon Technical Institute assessment test.
- Above average attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Occasionally must lift up to 100 pounds.
- Vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to be move within work area.
WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT
- Employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in high or precarious places such as ladders and man lifts. Employee may work outside under seasonal weather conditions.
- Stand-by and/or shift work availability.
- Limited exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.

- Long hours worked during snow removal operations
- Available for night, holiday, weekend, rotating or irregular shift assignments, able to occasionally work rotating shifts to provide required coverage and respond to emergency calls for assistance.
